New Position Available at Practical Action: Energy Access Partnership and Innovation Manager

Role Outline:

Practical Action is an international development charity that uses technology to challenge poverty in developing countries. We find out what people are doing and help them to do it better. Through smart ideas and simple solutions, we enable and help poor communities to build on their skills and knowledge to produce sustainable and practical solutions – transforming their lives forever and protecting the world around them.

Energy Access is critical to deliver on the SDGs and the UNFCCC climate agreement. Practical Action is a thought leader in this space and well positioned in terms of reach, network, alliances and footprint on the ground. With decades of experience helping poor people gain access to modern energy services, Practical Action is shaping the energy access discourse and priorities at global, national and local levels.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Energy Access Partnership and Innovation Manager to join us where you will further consolidate and enhance our role as a change agent, facilitator and broker in the global energy access space. The successful candidate will be UK based, however the role will involve substantive travel.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join us in forging strong partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders to provide decentralised, pro-poor approaches to energy access provision, market systems support and functioning regulatory and financial services. This role joins a vibrant team of people across Practical Action’s teams and offices.

You will have a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject and a sound understanding of energy access markets in developing countries and off-grid energy technologies. You will be a strategic thinker and have a proven ability to develop and strengthen partnerships with a range of stakeholders. A detailed knowledge of actors in the energy access space is highly desirable.

Your communication and interpersonal skills will be excellent and you will be able to work effectively across cultures. Fluency in English is essential, working knowledge of Spanish or French an asset.

Please note applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK

Closing date: Monday October 3rd 2016
