Paid academic placement opportunity on Sustainable Energy at the National University of Lesotho

Placement on Sustainable Energy at National University of Lesotho (NUL)

Field of activity

The Low Carbon Energy for Development Network (LCEDN) supports the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP) and the National University of Lesotho (NUL) in the organisation of the second Africa-EU Symposium on Renewable Energy Research and Innovation (RERIS 2018) from 23–26 January 2018 in Maseru, Lesotho. The symposium will take place in the framework of the NUL International Science and Technology Innovation Conference and Expo (NULISTICE 2018).

With the support from RECP, an Energy Research Center as well as a Master’s Programme on Sustainable Energy are currently under establishment at NUL. NUL will officially launch The Research Center and MSc programme on occasion of RERIS on 25 January 2018. To support this initiative, the LCEDN will sponsor an academic placement at NUL for preparation and implementation of the RERIS 2018, as well as the MSc programme and research center at NUL.

 

 

Tasks:

  • Assist with general operations for RERIS 2018 (preparation, logistics, implementation, follow-up)
  • Communications with RERIS 2018 participants
  • Assist with content work for sustainable energy short courses: practicals and lectures
  • Assist with fine tuning the soon-to-be-launched MSc programme
  • Assist in writing project proposals and co-ordination of collaboration with prospective partners

 

Profile:

  • Academic background in sustainable energy (PHD/Post-Doc)
  • Exposure/experience with running energy-related laboratories for students
  • Exposure/experience with writing project proposals for funding

 

Other: We are looking for a sociable, good-humored, dedicated person with exposure to African and European environments, who is able to adapt and integrate at high speed into new tasks and teams.

 

Duration: November 2017-January 2018 (3 months).

 

Stipend: The successful candidate will receive a stipend of 2000 GBP per month, and will also receive a travel expenses stipend up to the value of 1500 GBP.
