The LCEDN team and numerous collaborative partner organisations, government representatives and researchers from the Global South and throughout Europe will be participating in the Understanding Sustainable Energy Solutions (USES) network workshop in Nakuru, Kenya, from 7-9 December 2017. The workshop provides a timely opportunity to disseminate, review and discuss outputs and future research directions of the 13 projects comprising the USES network, a major UK government research initiative which aims to further understanding of sustainable energy solutions to poverty-related and low carbon issues in the Global South.

The workshop is being coordinated by the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS), the Sustainable Community Development Services (SCODE) and the LCEDN. Highlights of the programme itinerary include keynote speeches by Kenyan national and county government representatives and key collaborative partner organisations, and field trips to meet with the two rural communities in Nakuru county who participated in the solar nano-grids (SONG) project.
