Established in 2014, the Energy and Poverty Research Group (EPRG) at the University of Queensland (UQ) is an interdisciplinary pan-UQ initiative that works to solve pressing global energy challenges in impoverished communities.
The group’s work focuses on developing sustainable, reliable and affordable energy solutions for a number of developing regions currently lacking access to electricity and clean cooking fuels.
The succesful candidates will join a team of researchers at UQ undertaking research projects focused on the interconnected nature of poverty, energy and development, and to explore sustainable, reliable and affordable energy solutions that are tailored to local socio-economic and ecological contexts.
Although not limited to the following thematic areas, interest and or experience in one or more of the following topics is particularly relevant:
- Public policy and energy governance
- Spatial modelling, GIS and environmental management
- Energy resources and technology systems analysis to meet growing energy demand
- Techno-economic assessments of sustainable energy interventions
The applicant should possess excellent academic credentials, including a primary Honours degree qualification (Honours Class 1 or Class 2A) or a Master’s degree in a relevant professional area.
