Please refer to message below regarding a funding opportunity for 16 early career researchers to participate in a 3 day workshop in Lhasa, Tibet, China, which will discuss challenges in developing integrated renewable generation, supply, storage systems in zero carbon villages in Tibet.
Dear Colleagues,
We have recently been supported by the British Council and NSFC to host a 3-day workshop in Lhasa, Tibet, China during 6-8 August 2018. The workshop, jointly hosted by Dr Hu Du at Cardiff University and Prof Yanfeng Liu at Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT), China, will discuss challenges in developing integrated renewable generation, supply, storage systems in zero carbon villages in Tibet. Tibet, nearly a quarter of China's Territory, is in urgent needs of novel building energy systems that suits its rapid urbanisation. Enjoying 100% to 200% more solar resources than the UK. It has great advantages of utilising solar energy for poverty alleviation and use in buildings.
The workshop is aligned with Cardiff’s European Horizon 2020 PLUG-N-HARVEST project (€5.9m, 2017-21) researching into energy harvesting systems for zero carbon buildings, and XAUAT’s Chinese National Key Research and Development project (¥33.76m, 2016-20) researching into the basic theory of renewable heating and air conditioning in Northwest China.
We expect that the wider range of expertise from participants will trigger a new level of collaboration in research, design, construction, maintenance and supply chain of renewable energy system for zero carbon villages. Stakeholders like the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Tibet, Tibet Energy Research demonstration Centre, and Tibet University have expressed interests in the workshop.
We are now inviting 16 Early Career Researchers from the UK to participate in the workshop by filling the application form here. The deadline for the application is 10:00 am on 16th April 2018 GMT. Travel and accommodation expenses of Early Career Researchers will be covered by the ‘British Council Researcher Links’ programme and NSFC. Applicants will be alerted shortly after the selection.
